Wolf Moon on Friday Night
Friday night’s moon will be unusually bigger and brighter. It will be called the Wolf Moon, from the Native American culture.
According to Spaceweather.com, the wolf moon will appear about 14 percent wider and 30 percent brighter than a usual full moon we see in the sky.
“The moon’s orbit around the Earth is not a circle but an ellipse, with one side 50,000 km closer to Earth than the other. Astronomers call the point of closest approach ‘perigree,’ and that is where the moon will be Friday night through Saturday morning.” – Spaceweather.com. Friday night will be the biggest full moon of 2010.
